Softball Factory Alumni Among List Of Invitees To 2016 WNT Selection Camp

The ASA (Amateur Softball Association) and USA Softball announced late last week the list of 43 initial invitees for the 2016 USA Softball Women’s National Team Selection Camp which is held in Irvine, California at Bill Barber Park, January 2nd through the 8th, 2016.

Once the rosters are set, 17 players in total will compete in three upcoming high-profile events, beginning with the World Cup of Softball XI, the XV World Baseball Softball Confederation Women’s World Championship in Surrey, B.C., Canada as well as the Japan Cup.

Softball Factory is proud to announce five former Factory athletes have been selected as an invitee for 2016, in addition to a former collegiate player who has coached previous Softball Factory events as well.

Kelly Barnhill – (Under Armour Softball Factory College Prep in Douglasville, GA, April 2013) Barnhill is a 2015 graduate from Pope High School in Marietta, GA where she was named the 2015 Georgia Gatorade Player of the Year for Softball. In 2014, she led Pope to the Georgia Class 6A state title, capping the run with her second championship-game no-hitter. Barnhill, now a freshman at the University of Florida will help the 2016 Gators in the circle as a right-handed pitcher.

Raven Chavanne – (Has coached numerous Softball Factory events) Chavanne is a 2013 graduate from the University of Tennessee, where she was a Top 10 Softball Player of the Year finalist during all four years of college, an NCFA All-American and was drafted 13th overall by the Chicago Bandits in 2013. Chavanne has served as coach and on-field director for Softball Factory events.

Nicole DeWitt – (2011 Ryan Lemmon Softball Showcase) DeWitt will become teammates with Barnhill for the 2016 season, and the sophomore from Pacifica High School in Garden Grove, CA had an outstanding freshman season for the Gators, being named to the WCWS All-Tournament Team and the SEC All-Freshman Team after hitting .331 with 10 doubles, one triple, two homers and 28 RBI in 60 games (53 starts).

Meghan Gregg – (Under Armour Softball Factory National Tryout in Douglasville, GA, April 2013) Gregg enters 2016 as a sophomore short stop for the University of Tennessee, looking to build upon a fantastic freshman season where she was named an All-SEC freshman, starting 64 games at short stop for the Lady Vols, hitting .314 with 14 doubles, two triples, 13 homers and 51 RBI. Gregg was a 2014 graduate from Flint River Academy in Greenville, GA.

Madilyn Nickles – (Under Armour Softball Factory National Tryout in Fresno, CA, November 2013) Nickles enters 2016 as a senior at Merced High School in Atwater, CA where she has won 35 career games to the tune of a 1.28 ERA with 388 strikeouts. Nickles has committed to UCLA.

Alyssa Palomino – (Under Armour Softball Factory National Tryout in Fresno, CA, November 2014) Palomino is a 2015 graduate from Mission Viejo High School in Lake Forest, CA where she was a four-year letterwinner at Mission Viejo as well as a two-time All-American, and a three-time First-Team All-League selection. She enters 2016 as a freshman at the University of Arizona.

  • The Seawolves were winners of the NCAA West 1 Regional Championships in 2015
  • Seniors Ancia Purdy and Keeley Ray were both selected to the 2015 NCAA Division II All-America Team for both the Daktronics, Inc. and National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA)
